Silchester Garage site was established in 1903 and has always been involved in the repair and restoring of old vehicles.

Located in the delightful Village of Silchester which lies in picturesque Berkshire countryside between Basingstoke and Newbury and only some 8 miles South of the County town of Reading.

Our staff are craftsman dedicated to providing the finest quality work possible, however, throw the years we have been employing and training young technicians to keep these skills alive. Just after the Millenium we have dedicated ourselves to a “Pagoda passion”.

Mercedes are incredible Motor Cars, incredible well engineered what makes a great pleasure to work on but not always the easiest to repair.

After almost 10 years of running the Garage as General Manager, Paulo Custodio acquire the company in 2011 and he is the sole director of Silchester Garage Ltd.

Starting his early days working in his family Bodyshop in Portugal, where he spent the early years of his life and using the bodyshop as his playground. Has a great knowledge about bodywork, paint and he believes that understands very well the reaction of Metal and Oxygen in the presence of water or air moisture, what everyone calls RUST. Metal that with the salt that we find in roads of UK, it tends to rust more quickly as a result of the Electro-Chemical reactions. With this experience we can repair and rust proof these great motor cars better than anybody else.
Having almost 30 years of experience working in motor trade as Sprayer, Panel Beater or Mechanic and in the 70’s / 80’s restoring some Ponton’s or Fintail’s and working on w111’s or the famous taxi w114 and later on w123.
All those cars share a great amount of parts and technologies with w113 or w107, so he was in is environment when started this venture of “Pagoda passion” just after the Millenium. For several years he has been a hands-on Manager at Silchester Garage, done himself several amount of restorations, re-panelling or spraying complete body shells. Stripping and re-fitting all the mechanical components, diagnostic faults or Electric problems, or even fitting Interior components. Having a knowledge encyclopaedia about Pagoda’s, he’s the key for all his technicians at the Garage.
