“Silchester Pagoda” – the epitome of a beautifully restored modern classic car which can be

used every day. Based on the superbly engineered Mercedes-Benz 230, 250 and 280SL 1963-1971 the task

is to restore a base car to the highest level possible. First step is to strip the car down completely

to the bare shell which is then bead blasted. Any rust or corrosion then found will be completely eliminated

and all new panels will be welded into place including new wings and where necessary all new chassis

parts.  The shell is then fully primed in our low bake oven and then subjected to the most thorough preparation

possible usually involving rubbing down by hand over a 8/10 hour period before again going into the

oven for final painting with the underside having a rubber textured paint finish.

When we are satisfied that the shell has been painted to a perfect finish, the re-assembly commences.

All engine parts are vapour blasted and zinc colour plated. The engine is completely re-built including gearbox

and all moving parts are thoroughly overhauled. All brightwork is re-chromed or replaced.

Our trim shop will re-trim the whole of the interior using only the finest hides and carpeting

from Germany. The woodsets on the dashboards are renewed and so is the speaker grill. In fact, the car is a hand built

car of the very highest quality. From start to finish takes approximately 8-12 months.

 However, we feel that to rush the job is not the answer, it takes as long as it takes, our ONLY priority

is  quality – Praestantia Super Omnia (quality above all).

There will only be 20 Silchester Pagodas built, the first thirteen having been sold. These cars are finished in brilliant

silver with  red leather interior. Without question they are better than when new, they will last a life time and

more and will never lose their style and presence. When you buy a Silchester Pagoda you are making a

sound investment in quality and real quality never loses its value. There can be very  few other investments which can  provide such real

enjoyment.
